EKG Technician Course Overview
An Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician is an essential member of the allied healthcare team who specializes in recording and interpreting the heart’s electrical activity. Using specialized equipment, EKG Technicians assist physicians and healthcare providers with critical diagnostic testing that helps evaluate and monitor a patient’s cardiac health.
In this hands-on training program, students will learn how to prepare patients for EKG procedures, including properly placing electrodes on the chest, arms, and legs. Instruction will cover how to position patients, operate EKG equipment, obtain clear tracings, and explain procedures in a professional and compassionate manner.
Key Course Topics Include:
Fundamentals of cardiac anatomy and physiology
Introduction to EKG equipment and electrode placement
Performing 12-lead EKGs and Holter monitoring
Identifying normal vs. abnormal heart rhythms
Patient communication and preparation
Reporting and documenting results for physician review
